Axel Lindahl

Born in 1841, Swedish-Norwegian photographer Axel Lindahl was one of the most prolific photographers of his generation. Lindahl started his first photo studio in 1865, and would spend the coming two decades selling landscape photographs from his travels around Sweden and Norway.

Drawn to the dramatic scenery of Norway’s fjords and forests, Lindahl decided to sell his photo studio and its naming rights to solely focus on Norwegian photography excursions. Between 1883 and 1895, Lindahl built an archive of more than 3500 photographs of the Norwegian landscape.

Up until his death in 1906, Lindahl saw his photographs in several magazines, tourist brochures, and international photo exhibitions.
