Bruno Ehrs
Ehrs has been one of Sweden’s leading photographers for several decades, with more than 40 years of experience in various photograph genres. In his early days, Ehrs cut his teeth as an architecture photographer at Stockholm City Museum under mentor Lennart af Petersens. However, his eye for geometry is very much present in his photography, which Ehrs has emphasised: ”I always try to find the geometric lines in the picture. If you move 10 centimeters to the right or left, the entire balance in the image can be lost”.
His portfolio contains architecture, portraits, still life, food, and travel photography with one common denominator: stripped-down simplicity with careful attention to detail and lighting. Ehrs has shot commercially for international fashion and luxury brands like Vacheron Constantin, Dior, Cartier, and Chaumet. When his hometown of Stockholm celebrated its 750 anniversary, Ehrs was assigned to photograph portraits of famous residents of the Swedish capital. Some of the depicted were the Swedish royal family, and in 2010 his portraits of king Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia were featured on a set of postage stamps.
Ehrs held his first solo exhibition in 1987 at the Moderna Museet in Stockholm and has since then had about 40 solo exhibitions in Sweden and abroad, his recent in 2022 at Nationalmuseum in Stockholm. In 2023, Bruno will have his own exhibition at Fotografiska.
Ehrs is represented at Moderna Museet and Nationalmuseum Stockholm.
