Martina Hoogland Ivanow
Poetic darkness - With a background as a fashion photographer, Swedish-born multi visual artist Martina Hoogland Ivanow has created her own poetic universe. Ivanow’s technique is both complex and personal, and she holds a supreme understanding of light and shadows. She often uses a dark aesthetic, a soft greyscale, and achieves dreamlike imagery.
Ivanow’s photography is characterized by unusual and alternative exposure methods, which causes dramatic tonality combined with natural backlight and shadows. Ivanow is rooted in traditional photography but alters it in both personal and creative ways. Ivanow also expresses herself through film and sometimes even sound and lighting installations.
